The city can trace its history as far back as the first century and artifacts from the era are still around today. A very important city in the Holy Roman Empire, all kings and emperors were crowned here until 1792. Suffering Bubonic plague and wars, including World War I and II during which the medieval part of the city was destroyed, Frankfurt rose up again with a simple modern style with very few landmark buildings reconstructed historically. Today this cosmopolitan city boasts one of Europe's best underground rail systems and is home to over 180 nationalities from all over the world.

Located on both sides of the river Main with the city center on the north side, Frankfurt is also home to the largest forest within a city. The city is easily accessed via the airport and is the traffic hub of the German Autobahn system connecting it to all parts of Germany. Frankfurt also boasts the largest railway station in Germany with two stations located in the city center on the Zeil, the most famous shopping street in the city. Taxis, bikes and buses are also popular and effective methods of transport.

The best time to visit is late spring to early autumn. Winters are cold and rainy although without much snow. Some of the many tourists sites for guests to Frankfurt Am Main Hotels to enjoy include; the Stadel, one of Europe's finest art collections; Goethehaus, Goethe's childhood home; the beautiful St. Bartholomaeus Gothic Cathedral and the many bars, museums, cafes and restaurants between Fressgass and Alte Oper. The Sachsenhausen area is also bustling with bars and restaurants. Festivals and shopping expeditions abound throughout the year while the Opera House, St Katherine's Church and the Hauptwache are all well worth a visit.

The architecture of Frankfurt Am Main Hotels reflects the architecture of a city with contrasts. This is a city where wealthy bankers rub shoulders with students and drop-outs and a city where avant-garde skyscrapers rub shoulders with old well-maintained buildings. The Radisson SAS Hotel in the center with its 19 stories made out of glass held together with a shining blue disc, the only round hotel in Europe, provides the city skyline with a masterpiece of modern architecture and a stunning center of attention for locals and visitors. On the other hand, the Steinberger Frankfurter Hof was built in 1876 and effectively blends traditional architecture with modern amenities and facilities.
